What you need to know

  • Metro: For those relying on public transport, the Farragut West (orange, silver, blue lines) and Farragut North (red line) are the closest metro stations to the DAR Constitution Hall. Both stations are about a 10-15 minute walk to the DAR.

    Parking: On Sundays, metered street parking around the DAR Constitution Hall is free. Alternatively, you can pay for parking garages in the vicinity like the Ronald Reagan Building Garage. 

    *Google Maps and Apple Maps are great tools to plan your travel.

  • The doors will open at 9:00am with Sacrament Meeting beginning at 10:00am. Head to the main entrance on 18th street to enter the DAR. Only those needing wheelchair access will enter on D street. Attendees will be required to go through security, so please plan accordingly. If you are checking luggage, plan to arrive at 9:00am. Those not checking luggage, please arrive at 9:15am to give ample time to go through security before being seated. 

  • Those who traveled for the conference can stow their luggage at the DAR during the meeting. After arriving and going through security, you will be directed to the luggage check area downstairs. Once Sacrament Meeting and the devotional are over, don’t forget to go downstairs and pick up your luggage before exiting the building!

    *REMEMBER to wear your bracelet to get through security quicker (if you don’t have your bracelet on, your luggage will be opened & looked through by security)


  • Sacrament meeting will begin at 10:00 AM. Please plan to arrive 45 minutes before the meeting begins.

  • The devotional will follow sacrament meeting and run from 11:30am-12:30pm. We will be blessed to hear from Elder Allen D. Haynie, who is a General Authority Seventy, and his wife, Sister Deborah Haynie.

  • Bowls will be catered by CAVA, with gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarian options available. As you exit the DAR, choose 1 of the following bowls:

    1. Chicken + grilled vegetables (includes side pita) *dairy free; contains sesame

    2. Chicken + rice (includes side pita) *gluten free; contains milk and sesame

    3. Falafel crunch (includes side pita) *vegetarian; contains milk, sesame, soy and wheat

    Take your bowl and walk 5 minutes to the Ellipse lawn, where everyone will gather to mingle and eat their lunches.

    Directions to the Ellipse:

    1. Exit the main entrance and walk left (South) on 18th St NW toward C St NW (141 ft)

    2. Turn left on C St NW (0.1 mi)

    3. Using the crosswalk, walk right across C St NW and walk straight across 17th St NW (20 ft) 

    4. Follow the sidewalks to the central lawn area

Meet the Haynies

Elder Allen D. Haynie was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 4, 2015. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in the North America West Area. He previously served as a member of the Philippines Area Presidency, North America Northeast Area Presidency, and South America South Area Presidency. He is currently serving as Area President in the United States Northeast Area.

Elder Haynie received a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1982 and a juris doctor in 1985, both from Brigham Young University. He practiced law for 25 years with the international law firm of Latham and Watkins. He subsequently opened his own law firm.

Elder Haynie has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Argentina Córdoba Mission, elders quorum president, Young Men president, seminary teacher, high councilor, bishop, and stake president.

Allen Decker Haynie was born in Logan, Utah, on August 29, 1958. He married Deborah Ruth Hall in December 1983. They are the parents of six children.

Sister Deborah Ruth Haynie was born in Provo, Utah, and raised in various cities in the Western United States. She is the oldest daughter of Brent and Margaret Hall.

Sister Haynie graduated from Brigham Young University in 1985 with a degree in design. She and Elder Haynie met during her sophomore year of college and were married approximately one year later in the Salt Lake Temple on December 19, 1983. They are the parents of six children and grandparents of 24 grandchildren.

Sister Haynie has served in numerous callings in the Church, including ward Young Women president, Relief Society instructor, counselor in a ward Primary presidency, and Relief Society visiting teaching coordinator.

She enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren and supporting them in their activities. She also loves music, cooking, and traveling.
