What you need to know

  • There will be a 10 AM and 11 AM session. They will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

  • Bob Carroll is a technology entrepreneur and the co-founder of the popular dating app Mutual. With an emphasis on shared values and online safety, it has more than 170,000 monthly active users swiping, matching and meeting other Latter-day Saints. Bob grew up in Huntington Beach California and graduated from University of California, Irvine with a degree in computer science. He spent 20 years in online higher education, which included serving as the Chief Information Officer for University of Phoenix as they became the world’s largest online university. Bob has continued to embrace emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency and mobile applications.  He currently teaches Information Systems at BYU Marriott School of Business. Bob and his wife Natalie enjoy many hobbies together including home building, interior design, searching for antiques and collectibles, travel, and spending time with family.  They are currently restoring an 1880s stone house in Pleasant Grove Utah. They have 4 children and 4 grandchildren living in Utah, New York and Switzerland.

    Jenet Jacob Erickson is an associate professor in Religious Education at Brigham Young University, where teaches the Eternal Family (Rel 200) course. She received a PhD in Family Social Science from the University of Minnesota, after completing Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at BYU. She is a research fellow of both the BYU Wheatley Institute and the Institute for Family Studies and has been a columnist on family issues for the Deseret News since 2013. She miraculously met and married her husband, Michael, when they were both 34 years old. Their two children, LaDawn (age 15) and Peter (age 12), provide them unending opportunities for learning and joy.

    Laura Paulsen Howe has worked as Art Curator at the Church History Museum since 2019.  She has curated exhibits featuring the art of Minerva Teichert and submissions from the 12th and 13th International Art Competitions.  Laura recently authored a chapter on the history of the Church’s international art competitions published in Latter-day Saint Art: A Critical Reader (Oxford University Press, 2024).  She has presented at BYU Education Week and has been a guest on the Latter-day Saint Women and Church News podcasts.  Laura is married to Tyler Howe and has four outstanding children.

    Matt Rasmussen is a Managing Historian with the Church History Department.  He coordinates the integration of Church history resources into programs for youth and young adults.  He earned a PhD in history from Lancaster University and has published on the history of the Church in England.  Prior to joining the Church History Department, Rasmussen served young adults as an institute instructor at Southern Virginia University and the University of Utah.  He and his wife Jessica live in Heber City, Utah, and are the parents of two young adults and two teenagers. 

    Michael Malm - "My purpose in painting is to communicate the emptions and beauty that I experience, to the viewer, with the hope that the painting will trigger a similar emotional response in them. Ultimately, I hope my work uplifts and inspires." Michael and his wife Juanita live in the beautiful Cache Valley of Northern Utah where they have raised four children. 

    MJ Henshaw is a public affairs professional with over 15 years of experience in political communication. She currently works at Google as a member of the public affairs team. Her career includes extensive time in the U.S. House and Senate, as well as communications roles on political campaigns. Additionally, she was part of the corporate communications team at Qualtrics. Originally from Utah, MJ served her mission in the Micronesia Guam Mission and is a member of the Capitol Hill ward. She’s an avid runner, a sourdough enthusiast, and the person you call when you need an update on Taylor Swift.

  • Family History sessions will be on going in the Family History Center located in the Stake Center.

  • Breakfast: Chick-fil-a breakfast will be provided along with fruit. Gluten Free options will be available.

    Snacks: Snacks will be available throughout the day.

    Lunch: Sandwiches will be provided for lunch. Gluten Free options will be available.

  • Cell-phone reception is very unreliable on temple grounds. Please plan your schedule ahead of time and be sure to coordinate with your friends prior to arriving.

  • Take the Red Line Metro to the Forest Glen Stop. Free shuttles for attendees will be available to take attendees to/from the metro station and the temple grounds..

  • Parking at the temple and stake center will be very limited. Parking spots will be reserved for cars with 3 passengers or more.
